Ergonomics Analysis in Office Chair Design
This article focuses on the humanized design of office chairs. Starting from ergonomics and the design concept of "people-oriented", an office chair that conforms to the human body is designed.
With the development of science and technology and the progress of the times, more and more workers work indoors and use their brains, and more and more people work in a sitting position. The sitting position will also become the main posture adopted in future development. If the seat design of the staff is unreasonable, it is easy to bring certain harm to the human body, such as the cervical spine , lumbar, spine and other parts of the disease, the impact on the health of the staff, may also have a certain impact on the work. Therefore, whether the design of office chairs is scientific is particularly important.

Ergonomic analysis of office chair design
Seat height
The vertical distance from the front edge of the seat to the ground is called the seat height. The seat height is one of the main factors affecting the comfort of the sitting posture. If the seat height is unreasonable, it will affect the sitting posture of the person. The waist is prone to fatigue, and it is easy to produce lumbar disc after a long time. If the seat is too high, the legs will not touch the ground, which will compress the blood vessels in the thighs and affect the circulation of blood; if the seat is too low, the knee joint will go up. Arched, body pressure will be concentrated on the upper body of the human body. And a reasonable seat height, according to the principles of ergonomics, should be: seat height = calf + foot height + shoe thickness - appropriate space, the approximate range is 38 cm-48 cm.
Seat design
When the staff is in a sitting position, the two ischial tuberosities under the pelvis of the human body tend to be horizontal. If the sitting surface angle is unreasonably designed to form a bucket shape, the femur will rotate upward, the hip muscles may feel oppressed, and the body feels uncomfortable. comfortable. The width of the seat is set by the size of the human hips plus the appropriate range of motion, so the seat design should be as wide as possible to meet the needs of individual tall workers.
Seat Depth
The distance from the front edge of the seat to the rear edge becomes the depth of the seat. The depth of the seat surface is related to whether the back of the human body can be attached to the back of the seat. If the seat surface is too deep, the support point of the human body’s back will hang in the air, resulting in numbness of the calf. If the backlog is accumulated on the calf, the fatigue of the human body will be accelerated. According to ergonomic research, seat depth = sitting depth - 6 cm (gap).
Handrail Design
The design of armrests can reduce the burden on the arms so that the muscles of the upper limbs can rest better. When the human body stands up or changes postures, it can support the body and help the body maintain balance. However, the height of the armrests should be reasonably designed. If the armrests are too high or too low, it will cause Arm fatigue. According to ergonomic research, the height of the armrest is related to the distance from the seat surface. Controlling the distance within 20 cm-25 cm can meet the needs of most workers. The angle of the front side of the armrest also changes with the angle of the seat surface and the angle of the backrest.
Shoulder design
The position of the shoulder rest is about the height of the fifth and sixth thoracic vertebrae, which is roughly the same as the height of the scapula. The bearing area of the scapula is relatively large. The design of the shoulder rest can relieve the discomfort of the shoulder and neck caused by the long-term sitting position. This kind of discomfort allows the body to relax and relieve better, so as to complete the work better.

Summary
An ideal office seat should be based on the anthropometric size, and the seat should be designed in strict accordance with ergonomics, so that employees will not feel physically and mentally exhausted during long-term and large-scale work, reduce the diseases caused by discomfort in sitting posture, and make the work more comfortable. more quickly and efficiently.
