Sitting is the new smoking? From the point of view of many physiotherapists and orthopedic surgeons, this is true. The fact that more and more people are working at their desks is also reflected in the rise in widespread back problems. For back, neck and general health, more and more people are turning to standing tables. What for a long time could only be found in open-plan offices is now increasingly used in private spaces. This is mainly due to the fact that more and more people are working from home. The well-known manufacturer of such tables, Flexispot, went even further. With the Flexisport FC211 Sit2go, the company has developed a useful gadget that combines desk work with cardio. To do this, Flexispot simply combines an office chair with a dynamometer. Is the plan working? We have verified this in a real test.
Let’s look at large format packaging first. When shipped from the factory, the combination of ergometer and office chair is basically already assembled. However, you still need to do some fine tuning. In the package you will find the seat, backrest, pedals and related tools, as well as instructions for use and assembly. Once the components in the package are unpacked, assembly is also fast. There is not much to collect here. You just need to follow the included assembly instructions. This explains how easy it is to assemble the Flexispot FC211 Sit2Go.
The first thing to do is screw the back and seat to the base. Once this is done, all you have to do is turn the pedal into the threads. The bike and office chair combination is ready to go. The included screws and accompanying tools are well made and fit easily into the appropriate threads. In general, collected in a few minutes. Since I have had to assemble several office chairs and gaming chairs, I can conclude that the Flexispot can be assembled relatively quickly and easily, even without the help of a second person.
Only the insertion of the battery is poorly described in the instructions and is not easily identified on the device. The battery compartment is located under the display and must be removed from the stand.
The classic review you’ll get for the FC211 Sit2Go is in the “what do you have in there?!” category. Really. After all, the appearance of a desktop ergometer was initially unusual, and as a simulator it really has no place in the workplace. True, getting used to a rather bulky look is also quite difficult. This is something to keep in mind, especially if your desk is in a more intimate setting, such as a living room or bedroom. On the other hand, if you have your own cabinet, the Flexispot FC211 Sit2Go is perfect for that.
But before you take the plunge, remember that the FC211 Sit2Go is not for every table. Flexispot has developed a bench force meter specifically for standing tables. If you want to use your table in the down position from time to time, this is of course not a problem. After all, the height of the simulator can also be adjusted. In this case, however, you can’t pedal, which makes the FC211 Sit2Go a traditional office chair. However, if you occasionally want to take a break from pedaling, you might want to invest in a proper office chair.
Design may be a matter of taste, but the workmanship of the office chair and dynamometer is impeccable. Even if you look closely, you can’t see any sharp welds or anything like that. The materials used here by Flexispot also make a good impression. Everything looks and feels quality. As soon as you sit down, FC211 Sit2Go will work steadily. Flexispot indicates a maximum load of 99 kg.
Really wish the dynamometer could carry more. Speaking of weight. The chair itself weighs 25 kg. Therefore, moving it from point A to point B becomes extremely difficult due to the weight and massive structure. But Flexispot has certainly thought about it. After all, the chair rolls easily on the floor thanks to the wheels at the bottom. It makes sense. After all, I can well imagine one or two people who only want to use the FC211 Sit2Go for an hour or two during the day and sit at their desk the rest of the time.
Then you can conveniently move the chair to the side. However, you must be careful with sensitive floors such as solid wood parquet. After all, roller skates are not the softest and can cause damage if rolled carelessly. Too bad Flexispot didn’t use a slightly softer material here. So, with the right pillow as your foundation, you should be investing in the world.
By the name of the FC211 Sit2Go, you can already tell that this is also a chair, at least in certain proportions. Of course, this makes the ergonomics of the backrest and seat cushion even more important. The seat has little in common with a classic office chair, but more like a wide erg saddle. This has the decisive advantage that you have no choice but to sit in the center. The fact that the seat is slightly curved upward on the sides provides additional stability. Overall, I found the saddle design to be very comfortable. Of course, classic bike saddles can’t keep up with ride comfort.
Instead, I found that most of the chairs I tested were more comfortable. Unfortunately, this applies not only to the seat cushion, but also to the back. While many desk chairs, especially gaming chairs, now have ergonomic features like lumbar support, you won’t find anything like that here. On the contrary, the back of the FC211 Sit2Go can be described as raw. For example, you can’t even adjust the tilt angle. In terms of seating comfort, the Flexispot takes its successor up a notch.
But here you just need to remember that the FC211 Sit2Go is not a complete replacement for a desk chair that you spend eight or more hours a day with. Instead, the chair is more for standing workers who need to change positions a bit. The seat cushion and backrest fit perfectly. Once again I want to praise the back material. The Flexispot here relies on mesh to keep the back ventilated. Especially if you don’t want to sweat too much while cycling at your desk, this is the best choice.
It’s time to take a closer look at the unique benefit of the FC211 Sit2Go – cycling. My main concern is compatibility with simultaneous work on the computer. As it turned out, the combination of chairs and exercise equipment is a real enrichment of the working day. Over time, I developed a real routine. First I start the computer, then my desk. Then I rolled the FC211 Sit2Go under the table and sat on it. Pedaling while working does not limit my workflow in any way. In fact, quite the opposite. By keeping the blood circulating, I also imagine that my brain gets a better blood supply.
As a result, I am more focused and achieve my daily goals faster. Sometimes I increase the intensity over time. It’s completely simple and straightforward with the rotary controls. The successes that I celebrate are not only professional in nature. I was also able to enjoy sports achievements. The LCD screen of the FC211 Sit2Go allows you to view various data about your workout. Of course, the value here is limited and cannot be compared with the statistics of professional sports equipment. However, statistics such as speed, calories burned, and distance covered are sure to satisfy many.
As mentioned above, Flexispot lists a maximum weight of 99kg for their bike seats. You should definitely stick to this if you want to avoid injury. However, you should keep in mind that there appears to be a size limit. Since the seat height is adjustable from 56.9 to 80 cm, the combination of ergometer, table and chair may not be suitable for people taller than 1.90 meters.
As a children’s chair, the FC211 Sit2Go is also only suitable for a certain age group. After all, at least 1.65 m of height must be provided so that you can reach the steps. But before you miss out on the benefits, you should probably sit down and check it out. Maybe it still fits. Flexispot offers an attractive 30 day trial period. If the chairman refuses to accept it within the time limit, it may be returned without giving reasons as part of the return guarantee.
I have personally been using a height adjustable desk for two years now. At the same time, after a few months, I noticed that the desire to get up sometimes disappeared. So I’ve been completely sitting at my desk for a few weeks now. This was accompanied not only by anxiety of conscience, but also by back pain. Flexispot FC211 Sit2Go is the perfect solution for anyone facing the same problem. After all, if necessary, you can sit on a mixture of a work chair and an ergometer after a sedentary break without adjusting the height of the table. At the same time, a sports chair will never become an obstacle to working at the table. Whether you are typing on a computer or writing in a notepad.
Everything works great with parallel pedaling. Not only. I can even work more efficiently than if I stood all day. However, the chair/bike combination has some minor downsides. For example, I would like to see other spellcasters in the next version. They can quickly leave unsightly marks on sensitive floors. Don’t expect too much from seat comfort either. Here, you should always remember that bike chairs are only meant for cycling in the middle, not for hours of pedaling. Most importantly, I think Flexispot should also offer alternatives for other weight and size classes. After all, everyone should be able to enjoy the FC211 Sit2Go.
