You probably have a home office or a corner of the house that you call an office. I work from home full time and am trying to find a supportive, comfortable and affordable work chair that won’t get in the way of my work routine or my small apartment. At least that’s how it used to be. It turns out the Branch office chairs are ergonomic and versatile enough to keep me happy even on my longest working days.
The first step was to assemble the chair. I was thrilled that the desk chair had features like wheels and an adjustable seat height, but I was intimidated by having to assemble all of its parts myself.
The chair came in a big box and I had to carry it up the elevator in my house and down the hallway to my one bedroom apartment. I removed all the details and fittings on the floor and downloaded the assembly PDF indicated in the instructions.
While assembling furniture can be stressful and time consuming, I would say getting a chair ready for use takes a long time on average and is less frustrating than usual, at least for me. The parts are clearly marked, I have the tools I need, and everything is simple, except for the need to force the wheels.
I’ve been using the desk chair for the better part of a month and it’s been enough to spot some outstanding features. On the one hand, the seats are very comfortable all day long. Some other chairs I’ve used start to feel hard or stiff, but the high-density foam padding on the work chair strikes the perfect balance between springiness and firmness so your hips don’t get numb after sitting too long.
I also like the square seat, it allows me to cross my legs, tuck one leg under me, or sit comfortably on the blanket on my lap. While these positions aren’t always optimal for proper posture, I needed a chair that would allow me to change seats throughout the day without pinching my legs and making me feel like I couldn’t sit in a seat… And, the missionary chair worked great. .
Swivel chairs are great for your posture because they allow your entire body to rotate to focus on the screen or the other person, rather than twisting away from your neck or chest. I use multiple monitors at work, so I like to use the counter to quickly scan left and right without straining my body.
In addition, the rotation of the working chair is completely silent. Some chairs creak, creak, or squeak when cornering, but the desk chair swivels side to side with ease. As with slippage, the wheels roll easily and quietly. If you set them up correctly, you should have no problem rotating in any direction in your workspace.
The back of the work chair is about 22 inches long, which is perfect for my 5’6″ height. I have support at the bottom of my lumbar spine, and the slight curve in the back of the seat helps me sit up straight instead of hunched over the keyboard. The double weave nylon mesh seat back is comfortable and doesn’t feel sticky, and it sags a bit when I lean back in the middle of the day.
The seatback also reclines back, but you may need to adjust the recline force and unlock the recline feature by pulling the seatpost away from the center of the seat, which is counter-intuitive. However, once I unlocked this feature, when I leaned back, I almost leaned back. The chair moved far back. You can use the recline module to recline during your work day, or lock into one of several angles for a more comfortable seat.
As we noted in the Branch Verve chair, the armrests “swing quite a bit from side to side, making it hard to balance,” an issue I often run into when using the armrest support to adjust how I sit or stand. Sometimes I worry that the armrest will break if I unbalance the pressure and push straight down.
Although the arms of the Task Chair are wider than those of the Verve, they still wobble in place even after being tightened twice. This may be a user error, but it looks like the self-tightening aspect may be the root cause of this failure.
I think this desk chair is a top performance budget office chair. It kept me comfortable during my weeks of work at the desk, and it was a pleasure to return to it every day. It helps me prioritize posture improvement and helps me stay productive.
A desk chair is an affordable chair with a long list of features that make it inexpensive. It’s also worth noting that its sleek design, knitted seatback, and adjustable features also look better for the money.
